Nashville Monday Night Jazz (NMNJ) is Music City's premier intergenerational weekly showcase series; blending a dynamic mix of traditional jazz standards (swing) with soul, blues, hip-hop, funk, motown, doo-wop, country, simultaneously with live improvisational visual art.
Founded by saxophonist Stefan Forbus in 2015; hosted & curated by Fredrick Weathersby (The Real Deal Duo) this cultural cornerstone maintains the revitalization, and preservation of the Historic Jefferson Street Music City District Legacy.
We serve as a professional stage highlighting premium local and regional talent, including artists from the MUZIXITY platform. The series is also a neighborhood-integrated showcase, simultaneously utilizing spaces in North Nashville (Bordeaux) and downtown.
Our primary location is Kingdom Cafe & Grill, 2601 Jefferson Street — where the soul food and craft cocktails make it a popular neighborhood anchor and date-night spot. Free parking is available on-site.
Traditional jazz standards and swing form the foundation — played live every Monday by premium local and regional talent.
Artists create visual work in real time alongside the music — a showcase for the eyes as much as the ears.
Strictly preconceived and curated — not an open mic, jam session, or sit-in. Every artist on stage is there by design.
